Knowledge sharing and capacity building for agriculture and climate risk insurance

The InsuResilience Investment Fund protects low-income households from extreme weather events. The fund supports climate change adaptation by improving access to and the use of insurance in developing countries. The specific objective of the fund is to reduce the vulnerability of micro, small and medium enterprises as well as low-income households to extreme weather events. The Technical Assistance Facility of the InsuResilience Investment Fund, Celsius Pro, supports investees globally to improve their engagement in climate risk insurance

The ILO’s Social Finance Programme collaborates with Celsius Pro to develop and implement agriculture and climate risk insurance programmes of investees. This is done through a combination of knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities. The project stimulates exchange among the investee partner organizations, which help grow the development of an inclusive insurance market. This should accelerate the offer of risk-management solutions for agricultural enterprises, households and individuals.

The project consists of two activities:
  • Conducting workshops with the investee Vision Fund for their agriculture insurance programmes in Kenya, Malawi and Tanzania
  • Developing a community of practice for investees based in Latin America.
