64 participants from Argentina and Paraguay discussed and exchanged experiences in promoting and defending the rights of migrant domestic workers at the bi-national workshop on Strategies for Promoting the Rights of Migrant Domestic Workers in Paraguay-Argentina organized under the auspices of the EU funded Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and Their Families (GAP-MDW).

The Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and Their Families (GAP-MDW) organized a consultation meeting to provide a space for national constituents to share inputs and perspectives on proposal research on returned migrant domestic workers in Indonesia. The study aims to document through a qualitative survey the working conditions and forced labour risks faced by Indonesian domestic workers in Malaysia and their reintegration challenges.

Zimbabwe Domestic and Allied Workers Union (ZDAWU) and Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) conducted a workshop to develop an action plan to promote decent work for migrant and national domestic workers. Criminal justice and labour officers, inspectors and labour attachés from the ASEAN member states, social partners and other stakeholders participated in a regional conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons organized with an aim to enhance participants’ understanding of the labour migration management, labour exploitation and criminal justice elements of labour trafficking.

The Founding Congress of Domestic Workers Union in Lebanon took place on 25 January 2015 in Beirut with participation of 300 domestic and migrant domestic workers. The union is affiliated to the National Federation of Workers’ and Employees’ Unions in Lebanon (FENASOL).
