Jin Dawod survived the horrors of the Syrian war and today lives in Türkiye where she founded Peace Therapist, an online platform that puts its users in contact with therapists who can support them in their native language, including by providing free therapy for all, including refugees traumatized by war as well as earthquake survivors.

Breaking barriers to bring pride to her country

In Sri Lanka, Upeksha Madushani Maduthilaka is receiving on the job training in the Colombo Port as a transfer crane operator, a traditionally male dominated job. Thanks to the National Union of Sea Farers and with the support of the ILO and the Government of Japan, she aspires to become one of the best crane operators in South Asia and in doing so, bring pride to her country.

Drogba warns about African footballers’ dreams that turn into nightmares

Ivorian football star, Didier Drogba, has warned young, aspiring African footballers about the dangers of exploitation and human trafficking – part of a campaign run by the ILO, the International Federation of Professional Footballers’ Associations (FIFPRO) and the Didier Drogba Foundation. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the risks facing young footballers hoping to realize their dreams of playing in the big leagues abroad.
