  1. Building Capacities for Social Protection: ILO Wraps Up TRANSFORM Training in Mozambique to CNAS’ members

    13 - 15 December 2023

    Today it ended a three-day TRANSFORM training on social protection conducted for bolstering the capacities of the members of the National Social Action Council (CNAS). This council, established as a multisector coordination mechanism, plays an important role in supporting the implementation of the National Basic Social Security Strategy 2016-2024 (ENSSB II).

    Ethiopia celebrates 100th Anniversary of ILO Membership with a National Labour Conference. The High-Level Opening Ceremony will involve the ILO Regional Director, Deputy Director-General, Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, trade unions' leaders and employers' associations.

  4. Multi-regional Trade Union Dialogue and Cooperation: Reinforcing Commitment and Fostering Action for Migrant Workers’ Rights

    2 - 3 November 2023

    As a follow-up to the commitment of the six regional trade union confederations to defend, protect and promote the rights of migrant workers, this multi-regional trade union dialogue on labour migration identified good practices in implementation and developed a concrete plan of action for trade union collaboration going forward.

    The ILO through the BRMM, FAIRWAY and JLMP LEAD projects, is organizing a regional training to build the capacity of stakeholders in extending social protection for migrant workers.

  7. Africa Labour Migration Conference

    18 - 20 October 2023

    The ILO and the African Union Commission, in collaboration with IOE and ITUC Africa held the African Countries Labour Migration Conference in October in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. The Dialogue among African countries focussed on fostering cooperation and consensus building on labour migration governance and the protection of African migrant workers. SDC through the FAIRWAY project was a key funder for the conference

  8. THAMM Programme “Capitalization, Results, and Perspectives” Ceremony

    As the “Towards a Holistic Approach to Labour Migration Governance and Labour Mobility in North Africa” THAMM Programme is coming to an end by 31 October 2023 after three years of implementation in Egypt, the Government of Egypt, the European Union (EU) and Germany in coordination with the implementing agencies (ILO, IOM and GIZ), organized a “Capitalization, Results, and Perspectives” Ceremony.

  9. Atelier de capitalisation et durabilité des résultats clés du programme THAMM en Tunisie, 4 octobre 2023

    Le programme THAMM, financé par le Fonds fiduciaire d’urgence de l’Union européenne pour l’Afrique (EUTF) et co-financé par le ministère fédéral allemand de la coopération économique et du développement (BMZ), a organisé le 4 octobre 2023 son atelier de capitalisation et durabilité de ses résultats en Tunisie.

  10. FAIRWAY Migrant Resource Center Symposium

    25 - 27 September 2023

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), through the FAIRWAY programme convened a symposium on Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) that brought together participants from three African countries of origin: Uganda, Kenya, and Nigeria. The central theme of the symposium revolved around enhancing the effectiveness of MRCs in providing access to information and essential services for both potential and in-service migrant workers, as well as the families they leave behind.
